Hi,I have a Word (365 Office 2016 Mac) document that I've tried to convert to a PDF. However, when I do, the resolution doesn't transfer to the PDF; it comes out very poorly. Is there a way to fix this? What I'm doing is choosing Save As, changing the document to a PDF, and choosing 'Best for printing.'
I've also chosen 'Best for electronic distribution and accessibility (uses Microsoft online service),' but it does the same thing. Do you think this ishappening because I have a earlier version of Word than Adobe, or is it because I'm converting from a Mac?Please help. Thanks! Hi Sarah,Have tried converting Word document to PDF through Fileprint?Furthermore, you may try Jim's suggestion in this to check if you can keep high resolution when converting document to PDF.First, make a ColorSync filter that does this.1. Open the ColorSync Utility.app (This application is In Applications Utilities)2. If you don't see the Filters dialog, choose File New Window.3. Click the Filters button.4.
Click the button to the right of Reduce File size.5. In the pop-up menu choose Duplicate Filter.A new filter called Reduce File Size Copy will appear at the bottom of the Filters list.6.
Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the Reduce File Size Copy label.7. Click the two disclosure triangles for Image Sampling and Image Compression to display the options.8. Set Image Sampling Scale to 100%, Quality to High. You can jack up the other settings, too if you want.9. Set Image Compression mode to Uncompressed.10. Click the button over to the right for Reduce File Size Copy to display the pop=up menu.11.
From the pop-up menu choose Add Domain information.Domains are added to the Reduce File Size Copy filter.12. Click the disclosure triangle for Domains.13. Click PDF Workflows so that all 3 check boxes are selected. If you want to re-name the new filter, click on the filter name and type, then press Return to register the new name14. Quit ColorSync Utility.Second, convert document to PDF. Quit Word application if it running. Open the document you want to convert to PDF.
Click FilePrint. Click the PDF button in the lower left corner of the PDF dialog. Choose Reduce File Size Copy.qfilter. Your saved PDF file should be on the desktop with something like Microsoft Word - Document5.Reduce File Size CopyReduce File Size Copy.pdf.Regards,Joanne. Hi Joanne,Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question!Unfortunately, I couldn't get either suggestion to work.
I was able to create a filter, but it would only show up as a selection when I went to Print and then viewed the document in PDF Preview, where I could save it as a PDF. In PDF Preview, my images werealready lacking in quality, so the filter wasn't much help. However, I did notice on a PC there is the option to Create PDF/XPS Document, which seems to remedy most of the problem.
I believe my Mac has the same button, but I haven't tried it yet.Honestly, I think the problem lies in the Microsoft/Mac conversion. I could be wrong, but it does seem to be easier to get what I need to happen on a PC.Anyway, I do appreciate you working through this problem for me. And I will submit the problem as being solved.Thank you,Sarah.
